VooDoo Festival
A celebration paying homage to the dieties of voodoo, the native religion worshipping natural spirits and honouring ancestral traditions. The Voodoo festival, officially recognised as a religion in 1996, has its roots in the historical kingdom of Dahomey now known as Benin.
The festival celebrates the nation's rich history tied to the West African religion of voodoo. The day of the festival is officially declared a national holiday all over the country particularly in the city of Ouidah where the festival is widely embraced.
Grounded in the belief of animism, which holds that all things possess spirit, the festival begins with a ceremonial goat sacrifice honouring the spirit, singing, dancing, tribute to the dieties etc. At the recent celebration that took place January 2024, it was revealed that the festival has been extended to a two-day event (9th and 10th of January) with a new name in English "VODUN DAYS"

Hilda Bassey (popularly known as Hilda Baci) 27 year old Nigerian chef began cooking in her kitchen in the hopes of landing a world record.
Ever since she announced and started her cooking marathon, she has been dominating headlines around the world. She’s hoping to be the new record title holder for longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.
Hilda began cooking on Thursday 11 May, 2023 and continued through to Monday 15 May, 2023 whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a 100-hour period.
After following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records confirms that Hilda has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes. However, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

Street Hawking
Street hawking is the act of selling goods to the public without a permanent built-up facility. It is an informal act that is prevalent in many countries, including Nigeria, India, and Assam. Here are Nigerian street hawkers. Street hawking is often done by individuals who can’t start a formal business or are unable to afford a facility for their businesses
These vendors can be stationary, occupying space on pavements or other public/private areas, or mobile, moving from place to place with their goods.
The street hawking practice has been found to have several effects, including educational deprivation, physical and public health problems, and child abuse. It is a common occurrence despite efforts to stop child labor and poses difficulties to the socio-economic condition of vendors, particularly during crisis.
